Ryanair isn’t too worried about greater summer air travels because the bottled-up demand for travel is so overwhelming that customers are willing to pay a little extra for flights.

Ryanair anticipates typical air fares throughout this year’s summertime peak season to be 5-10% higher than pre-pandemic rates in the same duration of 2019, Group President Michael O’Leary was priced estimate as saying on Tuesday.

Lower capability and increased passenger demand are already driving fares greater for those scheduling flights from June onwards, O’Leary told the Irish Independent newspaper, mentioning “really strong” forward bookings.

“What we’re seeing at the moment is prices are somewhat lower than they were in 2019, pre-Covid, through March, April and Might. They’re someplace in between 5% and 10% higher at the minute through June, July, August and September,” O’Leary said.

“I think fares will be up this year in the peak summertime by between 5% and 10%.”

The Irish low-priced airline, Europe’s biggest by passenger numbers, on Monday reported that its traveler numbers topped pre-pandemic levels for the very first time last month.

O’Leary, who informed the newspaper he had no intent of retiring after nearly 30 years in charge, said it would be too optimistic to say that Covid-19 is over for the airline company market but he does not anticipate any “Covid terrifies” this summertime.

“Travel is recuperating strongly. I believe individuals are fed up. We have actually been secured in the house for the last two years on Zoom calls. They want to go travel once again. Households wish to go on holidays once again,” he said.
